2 DEPUTIES, DRUG SUSPECT ARE KILLED IN RURAL SHOOTOUT

EDEN, IDAHO - Two police officers and a suspected drug dealer died in a
shootout as the officers tried to search the man's house in rural southern
Idaho, police said Thursday.

The suspect shot two Jerome County sheriff's deputies as they entered the
home Wednesday night with a search warrant, and moments later other
officers returned fire, killing the gunman, said Idaho State Police
spokesman Dave Neal.

Neal declined to say what type of drugs were listed in the search warrant
or whether any were found in the home. Southern Idaho has been the scene of
several recent drug raids involving crystal methamphetamine.

Police identified the suspect as George Timothy Williams, 47. The officers
who were killed were Deputies James Moulson, 30, a four-year veteran, and
Phillip Anderson, 23, with two years on the job.

Eden, between Twins Falls and Pocatello, has 400 residents and is 40 miles
from the Nevada and Utah borders.
