DRUG SEIZURE HIGHLIGHTS NEW ERA IN POLICE WORK
The New South Wales Police Minister Paul Whelan says the seizure of
100-thousand ecstasy tablets in Sydney highlights a new era in
federal and state police cooperation.
New South Wales and federal police established a joint taskforce to
locate the 34 kilograms of ecstasy hidden in computer equipment flown
from Malaysia.
Two men appeared in Parramatta Local Court yesterday charged with
drug offences.
Mr Whelan says while cooperation between the two police services did
not always exist, it is now at an unprecedented level.
The Minister believes the establishment of a DNA database within six
to 12 months will add to inter-agency cooperation.
