MAN TURNS SELF IN ON DRUG CHARGES

Authorities have filed federal methamphetamine trafficking charges against
a Randall County man who fled from police last week when they tried to
arrest him.

Tyson Wayne Wilson turned himself into authorities Thursday after he fled
from police Thursday evening, according to an affidavit filed by a Drug
Enforcement Administration agent.

Wilson was charged Friday with possession with intent to distribute about
685 grams of methamphetamine.

According to the DEA affidavit:

- - An agent with the Panhandle Regional Narcotics Trafficking Task Force
made arrangements Thursday with Wilson to buy 1 pounds of methamphetamine
for $10,000.

Once the transaction took place, authorities planned to arrest Wilson at
the scene of the buy.

- - On Thursday evening, Wilson and a drug task force agent met at the
parking lot of the Western Bowl, 1520 Canyon Drive.

During the meeting, the agent and Wilson stayed in their vehicles.

Wilson then delivered a package to the agent of about 230 grams of
methamphetamine and showed the officer another package. The agent then
signaled other officers to arrest Wilson, but Wilson fled in his vehicle
and struck a police unit that tried to block him as he left.

- - As Wilson drove south on Canyon Drive, another officer saw a package of
methamphetamine going up into the air from Wilson's vehicle. An officer
recovered the package from a ditch. The package contained about 455 grams
of methamphetamine.

Wilson escaped in his vehicle, but later contacted the undercover officer
and surrendered at the Randall County Jail in Canyon.
