BEE'S 'HYPOCRISY'

Hallelujah! The Central Valley's meth problem is now over. McClatchy
Newspapers dangled a political carrot just prior to the election (how
coincidental) and some politicians bit. They flew in from Washington on
Jan. 9 and met with the law, and guess what they decided? Throw more money
at it, maybe it will go away. Sound familiar?

In reality, if McClatchy would start thinking more about eliminating the
users (instead of creating news) the manufacturers would be out of
business. You can start by looking at how "users" get started in the first
place. After personally talking to many users, I can honestly say that I
don't know of too many who started out using meth. The vast majority of
them that I have met got started using drugs like marijuana, the same
substance that you seem to support legalizing if your name is Eli Setencich
and you work for The Bee (Sept. 25 column). Coincidentally, you seemed to
gloss over or attempt to avoid the issue of how a "user" gets started in
your report published in October.

So maybe now you can start by looking in the mirror first, rid yourself of
your hypocrisy, and then maybe you would have some credibility. As it
stands right now, your political agenda stinks to high heaven and your
paper is not worth the tree that was cut down to produce it.
