SCHOOL IRATE OVER NAME

The Cincinnati Country Day School is not at all pleased to be named in
Traffic as the private school attended by 16-year-old Caroline Wakefield,
played by Erika Christensen. Caroline is a class leader, an A student --
and, along with some of her friends, a very serious drug addict.

Headmaster Charles Clark says the school is trying to learn why its name
was used without permission and to ''determine our next step in the legal
process.''

Many students nationwide, he says, use marijuana or alcohol. But this movie
''references one of our worst vices: hard drugs, using cocaine and heroin.
Is that a slice of life here? No, it is not. I think it gives all schools,
public and private, a black eye.''

USA Films responds in a statement:

''Traffic is clearly a work of fiction and two of the fictional characters
in the film attend a school called 'Cincinnati Country Day.' There is
nothing in the film which suggests that such school condones, tolerates or
permits drug use or that any teachers or administrators of the school were
aware of that use.

''Traffic is an important film that we hope provokes thought and discussion
about the drug problem in this country that affects people from all walks
of life.''
