7 DIE, 2 SURVIVE KILLING SPREE AT HOME IN OAXACA

MEXICO CITY (AP) -- Seven members of a family were killed in southern
Oaxaca state during an attack by apparent drug traffickers who stole
$80,000 in cash and stuffed some of their victims into car trunks.

Two others were wounded during the shooting and stabbing attack Friday
night at a private home in the city of Juchitan, Oaxaca's assistant state
attorney general Wilfrido Almaraz Santibanez told government news agency
Notimex.

Three men, a woman and three minors were killed in the attack, Almaraz
said. Surviving the assault were a 20-year-old woman and a man identified
as Sergio Antonio Chavarrio, who ran, wounded, to a nearby police station
to report that his family had been attacked. Chavarrio was the only victim
not locked in a trunk, police said.

Police found and detained two of the seven alleged assailants in
Chavarrio's house. Almaraz said they were drug traffickers from the north
and were found with guns and cocaine. Their identities were not released.
