2 'SMUGGLERS' DIE IN TRAINING FLIGHT
MARATHON - A Coast Guard Auxiliary plane crashed during a training flight
in the Florida Keys, killing the two civilian crewmen.
Pilot Casey A. Purvis, 50, of West Palm Beach and co-pilot Rob S. Fuller,
49, of Miami were flying a single-engine propeller craft and pretending to
be drug smugglers headed into Florida. Their plane was being sought by a
Coast Guard Falcon jet when it disappeared at 7:55 p.m. Thursday.
After radio contact was lost, The plane's wreckage was located Friday
morning about 15 miles northeast of Marathon.
Both bodies were recovered.
