DRUG INDICTMENTS NUEVO LAREDO

Indictments aim on drug cases A 49th District Court Grand Jury
returned indictments last week against 21 people arrested on drug
possession charges. Separate charges of possession of cocaine include
Gustavo Bautista-Porras, Joel Martin Pacheco Gomez, also known as
Martin Pacheco, Ana Lisa Ibarra, Hazael Carranza Salinas, Ediberto De
Luna, also known as Heriberto De Luna, Alejandro Ruben Santos,
Gerardo Martinez, Nora Rodriguez Flores, Ramiro Cisneros Gonzalez,
Joel Antonio Torres, Donato Leonel Volpe, Jr., and Jennifer A. Sarli.

Jose Israel Diaz, also known as, Jose Garcia 26, of 900 Gustavus;
Juan Alberto Raya, 19, Nuevo Laredo; Gaspar Lopez, Sr. 51, of 200 San
Francisco; Gaspar Lopez, Jr. 26 of 200 San Francisco and Jose Antonio
Perez 21, Nuevo Laredo, were charged with two counts of possession of
marihuana.

In separate charges, Roberto Federico Sanchez, also known as Jose
Manuel Gonzalez, 26, of 1700 Green; Margarito Flores, 53, of 300 East
Del Mar Boulevard; Sergio Alaniz 20, of 3500 Reyes, El Cenizo, Texas
and Luis Carlos Salas Guillen 18, of Nuevo Laredo, were also indicted
on marihuana possession.

Arraignments for the defendants are set for March 2 at 9 a.m.

Five arrested in pot bust The Laredo Narcotics Unit, with the
assistance of the U.S. Customs Service, shut down a local marijuana
smuggling operation that was working out of a warehouse in the 1900
block of Aduanles, according to police spokesman Juan Rivera. This
three-day investigation netted the seizure of 2,311.5 pounds of
marijuana. It was packed and already loaded into a semi-trailer.
Another portion was located inside the warehouse.

Arrested at the scene were Leandro Lopez Chavez, 39, Nuevo Laredo;
Jesus Garcia Martinez, 31, of the 6800 block of Campos St.; Miguel
Lopez, 33, of the 3200 block of Fiesta Loop; Casimiro Lizaola, 43, of
El Centro California and Gregorio Jimenez Rodriguez, 32, of the 8600
block of Santa Ursula.

All five were charged with possession of a controlled substance and
engaging in organized criminal activity.
