METH TASK FORCE TREATMENT 'UNFORTUNATE'

Editor, The News:

I must say that the attacks on the $3 million crystal meth education
grant are very unfortunate.

What is particularly disappointing is that while we are on the verge
of a pandemic, some public officials choose to continue splenetic
fights and clashes of personalities.

The Crystal Meth Task Force has done some excellent work.

For us to attack people who are so deeply committed to making a
difference, to speak of them in such a condescending tone, it sends a
wrong message.

The impact of meth is well known thanks to the efforts of people like
Mary and Gord Robson.

I would have thought that this kind of vivid awareness would force
all political leaders to join forces and roll out programs needed to
combat this horrible substance as if there was no tomorrow.

Instead, the local task force finds itself being shut out of local schools.

So much for prevention.
