SHERIFF ASKS INVESTIGATION OF DRUG FUND
CLINTON -- East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Talmadge Bunch asked State
Police to investigate the possible misuse of money in his agency's
narcotics fund, a spokesman for Bunch said Monday.
Chief Sheriff's Deputy Paul Perkins said Detective Drew Thomp-son was
suspended without pay, pending the outcome of the investigation by
State Police detectives.
Perkins said the results of the investigation may be turned over to
Bunch today. The chief deputy said the investigation is focused on
how about $2,000 in the fund was used.
Money in the fund is used to pay confidential informants for
information on drug dealers and to buy drugs from dealers.
