STUDENT PRIVACY VERSUS DOG SEARCHES

Re "Use of Dogs to Find Drugs on Campus Protested," March 18.

It is unfortunate that we have to compromise some of our privacy rights to
combat the spread of drugs. I don't like the idea of having my luggage and
person searched and scanned at the airports but I recognize that the goal
is to prevent rather than react to serious problems.

Some of those against the dog search for drugs are the same kind of people
who never check on their kids' activities or check out their room at home.
They wake up one morning and find their kids are involved with drugs and
blame the school.
