U.S. LOSES SEAT ON SECOND U.N. PANEL
WASHINGTON -- The United States has lost its seat on a second U.N. panel,
the International Narcotics Control Board, State Department spokesman
Richard Boucher, said.
He called the loss "very regrettable." The 13-member board, based in
Vienna, Austria, monitors compliance with international agreements to
control drugs.
A diplomat, Herbert S. Okun, has been the U.S. representative since 1997.
Last week the United States lost its seat on the Human Rights Commission.
