WEBB'S SON, 38, COULD RECEIVE PRISON SENTENCE
Tuesday, June 19, 2001 - Denver Mayor Wellington Webb's son is in more hot
water with the law and could receive a prison sentence.
Allen Wayne Webb, 38, was arrested last month by Denver police on drug
charges - just days before he would have successfully completed a deferred
judgment in a Denver robbery case. Because of his latest arrest and his
failure to pay restitution, prosecutors have asked that his deferred
judgment be revoked.
If Webb had met the conditions of the deferred judgment and stayed out of
trouble, his felony charge would have been erased from his record.
He is free on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond and faces a hearing
Friday on the revocation.
Allen Webb and another man were arrested about 12:50 a.m. May 25 in
Cheesman Park when officers saw them in a parked car in violation of curfew
laws, police say. Webb, the driver, had marijuana in his pocket, and there
was a soft drink can with a baggie of crack cocaine sticking out the top
between him and his passenger, police said.
Allen Webb's prints weren't found on the can, and he is expected to be
cited only with possession of marijuana, a city ordinance violation, police
said.
