PIE THROWER GETS TASTE OF TRUE CANADIAN JUSTICE

OTTAWA - Marijuana Party leader Marc St-Maurice is happy the Canadian
justice system respects every man's right to throw a cream pie in his own
face - even if a bit of the sugary confectionery lands on the cheek of a
Mountie.

St-Maurice, 32, was charged with assaulting a police officer but assistant
Crown attorney Ursela Hendel withdrew the charge after viewing an amateur
video of the incident on Parliament Hill last Nov.25 during a legalization
rally.

The video shows St-Maurice with a loaded pie trying to approach a statue of
Emily Murphy, noted women's rights advocate and according to St-Maurice, a
hysterical anti-marijuana crusader who help author prohibition of the drug
in 1923.

As St-Maurice tried to approach the statue, two RCMP officers barred his
access. When it became clear he was not going to get close enough to hit
the statue, St-Maurice nailed himself directly in the face with the
pie. As he did so, some of the cream hit the left cheek of an officer
standing beside him. The Mounties promptly charged him.
