AS SUSPECTED, DRUGS PLAYED PART IN CITY'S THIRD MURDER
Kamloops Mounties Confirmed This Week That Drugs Played a Factor In
the Murder of Kamloops Resident Gary Cavanagh.
Speaking at an unrelated RCMP press conference on Monday, Insp. Yves
Lacasse told local media investigators have found links between
Cavanagh and illicit drug activity in the city.
"I am not speculating about the motive for this homicide," Lacasse said.
"What I am saying is there is a connection between the deceased and
illegal drug activity."
Lacasse wouldn't comment further on the investigation.
However, he reiterated the need for public assistance in solving the case.
"We know that there are people in the community that have information
about the murder of Gary Cavanagh," he said.
"And we appeal for them to come forward and talk to the police."
The 36-year-old Cavanagh was shot dead inside a travel trailer parked
on Kamloops' North Shore on Oct. 28.
Police have confirmed he died of a single gunshot wound.
Cavanagh was known to police.
As the investigation continues, the RCMP are asking anyone with any
information to call the local Kamloops detachment at 828-3000 or
Crime Stoppers at 1-877-311-8477.
