2 SHOT, APPARENT METH LAB DISCOVERED IN SANTA CLARITA

Two Santa Clarita residents were shot, one critically wounded, in a house
in which a suspected methamphetamine lab was found, authorities said Wednesday.

Just after midnight Tuesday, a man called police to report, "My wife has
just been shot," according to Lt. Scott Young of the Santa Clarita Valley
sheriff's station.

In the house, in the 23400 block of Darcy Lane, police found a man and
woman, both with gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Another man was found unharmed in the house, police said. The victims were
taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where the woman was reported
to be in critical condition, the man in stable condition. Police did not
identify either victim.

The Sheriff's Department described the crime as a home-invasion robbery.
Three armed men entered the home, demanding money, then fled in a brown van
after the shootings, deputies said. Deputies did not know if the three
intruders had taken money or property.

"I am not aware of any suspects named or known," Young said. The intruders
were described only as men wearing dark clothes.

At the scene, police found materials indicating a methamphetamine lab had
been operating, Young said.
