LIBERTARIAN EYES SENATE RACE

Saturday, July 07, 2001 - Denver businessman Rick Stanley said Friday
that he plans to run as a Libertarian for the U.S. Senate seat held by
Republican Wayne Allard.

Stanley, 46, chief executive officer of Stanley Fasteners and Shop
Supply, said he would work to ensure that citizens' rights are upheld.
He said rights have been eroded through the war on drugs.

"The government is turning our country into a police state, and they're
doing it by hammering all of the Bill of Rights, and the drugs issue is
just one more part of it," he said.

Allard has not indicated whether he plans to run for a second term in
2002.
