STUDENTS COLLECT BEARS

The Poteet High School Student Council collected teddy bears for the
Poteet Police Department and Atascosa County Sheriff's Department.
The Student Council wanted to do something a little different for Red
Ribbon Week. Student Council members consulted Mr. Charles Ervin,
instructional specialist and Darlene Stegall, counselor about ideas.

The idea was hatched. Celebrating Red Ribbon Week is teaching
students about the effects of drug abuse. Many times children are
affected when parents are taken away from the home for drug related situations.

The Poteet Police Department and the Atascosa Co. Sheriff's
Department will now be able to give a stuffed animal to the children
in these situations to ease their fears.
