AREA DRUG STING YIELDS 38 COCAINE ARRESTS

An undercover operation to combat crack cocaine sales has led to the recent
arrests of 38 West Tennesseans, with other arrests pending.

Twenty-one were arrested in McKenzie as part of Operation Safe Home Round
Up, an undercover operation excecuted July 2 and 9 involving the 24th
Judicial District Drug Task Force, Housing and Urban Developments-Office of
Inspector General and the McKenzie and Huntingdon police departments. The
team received help from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Tennessee Bureau
of Investigation.

According to the task force, delaying individual arrests and making one
large arrest prevents suspected drug dealers from being aware that
undercover investigations are under way.

The following were arrested July 2 for selling crack cocaine in McKenzie,
with eight arrest pending. The suspects are McKenzie residents unless
otherwise noted: Joe E. Milton, 38; Anita Smith, 40; Jeffrey Jones, 33;
Breana Wilson, 18; Earnest Brooks, 35; Terry Haynes, 23; David Milton, 32;
Titus Gordon, 22; Beverly Cole, 28; Tommy Horton, 19; Stevie Webb, 33;
Janice Pullam, 36; Yolanda Robinson, 26; James Allen, 36; Rodney Breedlove,
38; Benjamin Thomas, 28; Mona Nelson, 37; Lila Haynes, 25; Jeremy
McClerkin, 20, of Milan; Torrie Carter, 21, of Huntingdon; and Angela
Crawford, 31, of Hollow Rock.

A round-up in Huntington resulted in 16 arrests Monday, with six other
arrests pending.

The following were arrested in Huntington on the same charges. Suspects are
Huntingdon residents unless otherwise noted: David Mayo, 19; Eddie Shaw
Sr., 35; Mona Harris, 36; Clarence Harris, 48; Waymon Tharpe Jr., 41; Ricky
Montgomery, 44; Reginald Gordon, 22; Melvin Harris, 44; George Holder, 29;
Elizabeth Pierce, 52; Kiowa Jordan, 28; Marshall Hampton, 33; two
17-year-olds; Evelyn Williams, 37, of Hollow Rock; and John C. Nash, 32, of
Lexington.

The annual operation is funded by HUD-OIG in an effort to keep its
communities safe.
