2 CRITICALLY HURT IN FIRE AT POSSIBLE DRUG LAB
Two people were badly burned Monday in a blaze at a Van Nuys apartment
that police said may have been an illegal drug lab.
The fire started at around 4 p.m. at a complex at 15820 Vanowen
Street, fire spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
Firefighters put the blaze out in eight minutes, but a 31-year-old man
and a 20-year-old woman were taken to area hospitals in critical
condition with burns over more than 60% of their bodies, Humphrey
said. LAPD investigators were at the scene after firefighters reported
evidence of possible drug activity, Humphrey said.
