'WEST WING' CREATOR SAYS REHAB DIDN'T STOP DRUG USE

The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin tells Talk and TV Guide
magazines he has been an occasional user of marijuana and crack
cocaine since his 1990s rehab.

He says in Talk's interview that Martin Sheen offered "to leave (West
Wing) and help you, if that's what it takes," after Sorkin's April
arrest for drug possession at Burbank (Calif.) Airport. "You matter
more to me than this show does," he says Sheen told him.

Sorkin disputes in Talk a story that Sheen threatened to quit unless
the writer/producer took a more serious approach to rehab. The show's
President Bartlet gave him what Talk calls "a stern, if loving grilling."

If Sorkin fails to finish his court-ordered 20-week program of
meetings, he gets automatic jail time. But he scoffs at the idea that
California's new law emphasizing treatment over prison for drug users
reduces his incentive to stay clean. "This has been such a public
nightmare for me, there's no possibility that I would mess with this
or take any chances," he tells Talk.

Sorkin, 40, tells both magazines he was often high on crack while
writing the 1995 movie The American President.

But estranged wife Julia tells Talk, "I am totally convinced that the
number of times since (he was in) Hazelden (clinic, in 1995) that
Aaron has smoked cocaine is very few, because I know it's completely
incapacitating."

he was deeply disappointed when the Aerosmith screamer's cameo fell
through for her fall movie, Rock Star (with Mark Wahlberg). "I don't
know how old the man is, but he's phenomenal, that energy."

Would Pitt also get a "love freebie"? That never comes up, says
Aniston, 32. "Steven Tyler has just been our joke for a long time."

For the record, he's 53; daughter Liv Tyler, 23, is nine years younger
than Aniston.
