FOOTBALL COACH, WIFE FACE DRUG CHARGES
Goleta Dos Pueblos High football Coach Jeff Hesselmeyer and his wife
each face three felony charges in connection with their arrest at home
Tuesday for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine.
Santa Barbara Police detectives, acting on a tip, obtained a search
warrant and discovered about a half pound of marijuana, less than one
gram of methamphetamine and 13 marijuana plants growing in the
backyard, said Sgt. Chris Moore. Two of the plants, growing in a
hothouse, were more than 5 feet tall.
The marijuana was in three bags, suggesting that it may have been
packaged for sale, Moore said. Police also found a triple-beam scale,
typically used for weighing marijuana. The couple faces charges of
cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and
possession of methamphetamine. Jeff Hesselmeyer, 49, and his wife
Jennie, 45, posted $10,000 bail each and are scheduled to appear Aug.
28 in Santa Barbara Superior Court.
Moore said detectives have been given no indication that Jeff
Hesselmeyer sold marijuana to his students or anyone else on campus.
Hesselmeyer did not return a phone message seeking
comment.
Dos Pueblos High Principal David Cash and Athletic Director Scott
O'Leary could not be reached for comment.
