TOP FOOTBALL RECRUIT WON'T PLAY
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Kelly Baraka, one of the nation's best high
school football players, will not play for Michigan this season.
The running back was arrested in May and July on marijuana possession charges.
Coach Lloyd Carr said Friday that Baraka will remain on scholarship
but won't dress for games this season. The incoming freshman will
practice with the team at some point.
Baraka, selected by USA Today as a first-team high school
All-American, chose Michigan over Notre Dame.
Police searching for an armed-robbery suspect arrested Baraka last
week at a Portage home. He is not suspected of involvement in the
armed robbery.
Baraka posted $100 bond following his July 31 arrest. A pretrial
hearing is set for Aug. 28.
