CORONER: EDEN SON DIED OF OVERDOSE
LOS ANGELES -- "I Dream of Jeannie" star Barbara Eden's son died of an
accidental heroin overdose, a coroner's spokesman said Monday.
Matthew Michael Ansara, 35, was found dead in his pickup truck in June
at a gas station.
The bodybuilder and aspiring actor was alone, and police said there
were no signs of a struggle or injuries.
Toxicology tests showed a lethal level of heroin, said Los Angeles
County coroner's spokesman Scott Carrier.
"There was no evidence or signs of trauma at the time of the exam,"
Carrier said. "No foul play is suspected."
Ansara's father, character actor Michael Ansara, has appeared in
scores of films and television shows, including "The Greatest Story
Ever Told," "Star Trek" and the 1950s series "Broken Arrow." He and
Eden were married from 1958 to 1973.
Ansara appeared with his mother in an episode of her show "Harper
Valley PTA" in the 1980s and in the TV movie "Your Mother Wears Combat
Boots."
