POSSIBLE POT PLANT PULLED AT GOVERNOR'S MANSION

It may or may not have been marijuana growing at the Governor's Mansion in
Denver, but whatever it was, it's gone. State workers removed what looked
like a marijuana plant from a bed of bluebells and clover Thursday after
reporters asked about it. The State Patrol tested the plant and said it
wasn't marijuana. But a Denver Post reporter took a leaf to the Denver
Botanic Gardens, whose experts said it was. Dick Wadhams, a spokesman for
Republican Gov. Bill Owens, suggested, tongue in cheek, that three
Democrats who may challenge Mr. Owens may have been conspiring. "It's
clearly a joint effort," he said. If it was marijuana, it probably grew
from a seed that blew in or was dropped by a pot smoker, state police said.
