DAILY NEWS LEFT OUT THAT MITCHELL WAS MORE THAN HIS CRIMINAL PAST
I am writing in response to the Nov. 1 Daily News article, "Police
identify shooting victim," in which the Daily News wrote slanderous
things about my nephew, Willard Mitchell.
Willard was slain Oct. 29 in an unknown matter. Although he had a
10-year criminal history ranging from probation violations to the
slaying of a crack dealer, the newspaper didn't care to detail how
much a father he was to his children, how connected he was with other
family members and how he struggled with getting on his feet after
being incarcerated.
I, too, encountered a drug lifestyle in my past. Due to my nephews,
especially Willard, I have turned my life around in a positive and
healthy manner. Willard was inspiring, loving and has given his last
to help another human being.
The other concerns that I have for the Daily News:
How come no information about Sidney Adkins, the suspected shooter,
was shared? Was he an innocent man with a shotgun?
Willard Mitchell was more than his criminal history. He had a more
humane, kind, loving side the Daily News did not choose to share with
the community.
