DRUG-COURT DEAL IN DARK
The B.C. government is being coy about details of a contract to a private
contractor for support services to a new Vancouver drug court being
provided by a joint provincial-federal initiative.
The contract, capped at $330,000 in the first year calls for Surrey-based
Stroh Health Care Consulting Corp. to provide urine screening and other
services.
Company principal Carl Stroh referred requests for information to
Attorney-General Geoff Plant. But a spokesman for Plant said the minister
has yet to decide what information, if any, he will release.
No date has been announced for opening the drug court, which is expected to
deal with up to 50 people a day and involve treatment programs.
The court will be located in the provincial courthouse on Main Street.
