POLICE SEIZE MARIJUANA PLANTS IN DARTMOUTH
In a national crackdown on marijuana, Halifax Regional Police searched a
Dartmouth home Wednesday and seized nine plants and the remains of nine others.
Drug investigators also seized electrical equipment allegedly used to grow
the weed at the Farrell Street residence. No one was home during the raid.
Dubbed Operation Green Sweep, about 500 city police officers and Mounties
swept down on home-grow operations from Nova Scotia to British Columbia.
They executed 149 search warrants by 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. They arrested 136
people, laid 289 charges, seized 46,796 plants and $3.2 million worth of
growing equipment.
