UNFAMILIAR DRUGS CONFISCATED IN RAID

SANFORD - The execution of a search warrant Monday night by the City/County
Drug Unit yielded a stash of drugs, many of which
have never been seen by Lee County law enforcement before.

"Many of these new synthetic drugs and pharmaceuticals are new even to law
enforcement officers," said Chief Deputy Ronnie Currin of the Lee County
Sheriff's Department. "Sometimes we don't even know what were looking at."

What agents were looking at Monday night were various kinds of anabolic
steroids and Ketamine, commonly known as Special K, according to Currin.

The drug unit secured warrant to search the residence of Generosa "Jerry"
LaSalvia, 28, of 1867 Riddle Road, after U.S. Postal Inspectors notified
them that alleged drugs had been sent through the U.S. mail to that
residence, Currin said.

Agents confiscated 20 ml of Sostenon, 160 ml of Testosterona, 70 ml of
Noradron, 60 ml of Ultragan, 20 ml of Anabolic ST, 22.5 ml of Parabola, 300
dosage units of Omifin, 240 dosage units of Stenox, 20 dosage units of
Aldazida and 80 dosage units of Proviron, all anabolic steroids commonly
used by athletes and weight lifters to increase their physical performance,
according to Currin.

Also, 200 ml of Ketamine was seized. Ketamine is an animal tranquilizer,
which causes humans to experience a dilutional, subdued state and
hallucinations, according to drug agents.

Various other prescription drugs were also seized, including Arimidex, a
drug used to treat breast cancer, Relafen, used to treat arthritis pain and
Thiamine, a Vitamin B-1 replacement.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $20,230, according to Currin.

Agents also seized $1,600 in cash, a Beretta .40-caliber handgun, digital
scales and approximately three cases of syringes.

LaSalvia has been charged with possession with intent to sell Ketamine,
possession with intent to sell anabolic steroids, felonious possession of
anabolic steroids, feloniously maintaining a dwelling to sell or keep drugs
and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released under a $5,000
secured bond.

More charges are pending against LaSalvia, Currin said.
