B.C. MAN CHARGED AFTER MAJOR SASK. DRUG BUST
A Vancouver, B.C. man is facing drug-related charges following a major drug
bust in southeastern Saskatchewan earlier this week, in which RCMP seized
240 pounds of marijuana.
Joseph Jean Christian Pellerin, 48, was charged with trafficking,
possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and
possession of the proceeds of crime, when he appeared in provincial court
earlier this week.
RCMP spokesperson Heather Russell said a member of the Moosomin detachment
on a routine patrol Wednesday evening stopped an eastbound truck pulling a
U-haul just outside of that community. As a result of a further
investigation and subsequent search of the vehicle, the officer discovered
the marijuana, which has a street value of about $700,000. The driver of
the vehicle was taken into custody and the vehicle was seized by RCMP.
