Warwick Charged With Possession Of Marijuana At Miami Airport

Singer Dionne Warwick was arrested when baggage screeners at Miami
International Airport said they found 11 suspected marijuana cigarettes
inside her lipstick container.

Warwick, 61, of Miami Beach, was charged Sunday with possession of less
than five grams of marijuana. She signed an affidavit promising to appear
in court and was released.

Warwick was scheduled to fly to Los Angeles when screeners at Concourse D
noticed a suspicious item in her carry-on bag at about 7:30 a.m. She missed
the flight.

The five-time Grammy Award winner and cousin to Whitney Houston became
famous in the 1960s for such songs as Walk on By, I Say A Little Prayer and
Do You Know The Way to San Jose?

More recently she been a spokeswoman for the Psychic Friends Network.

A spokesperson for Warwick could not immediately be reached.

Her sister, Deedee Warwick, said she was shocked by the news.

"I'm sure Dionne doesn't use drugs," she told the South Florida
Sun-Sentinel from her home in New Jersey. "I don't understand how that
occurred. I think someone put that on her."
