WANTED: MOUNTIE DETAILS ON DRUG BUST
Thumbs Up: To Alliance MP Randy White who asks why the RCMP have yet to lay
charges in a U.S.-orchestrated drug bust involving a B.C. fishing boat that
netted $250 million worth of cocaine in 1999. The Mounties have refused to
give the boat's Canadian skipper/owner, who lives in Victoria, witness
protection in exchange for info that would hopefully put the traffickers
behind bars. How come? The RCMP aren't talking. "I think we have to know
what the problem is and why charges aren't laid...," MP White says. We agree.
