CUSTOMS CLAIMS RECORD DRUG HAUL
VANCOUVER -- The Canada Customs and Revenue Agency announced Monday
its largest ever seizure of methamphetamines in B.C. -- almost one
million doses of an addictive stimulant that's mixed with ecstasy and
other illegal drugs.
On June 6, customs officers at the Port of Vancouver used an
electronic scanner to inspect the black and green leather sofas inside
a container brought here from China by the cargo vessel Nantong,
operated by the China Shipping Container Line. They found 100 plastic
bags filled with powder concealed underneath the seat springs of 14 of
the 45 sofas.
Police allege the bags contained a total of 96.3 kilograms of
methamphetamines.
