BOOZE BARONS DON'T WANT COMPETITION
Editor:
Foulds' case for legalizing marijuana is imminently logical.
He states: "When the Conservatives decided to ditch the Liberals'
progressive plan to decriminalize pot, they reinforced the warped
reality that makes criminals of upstanding citizens who enjoy using marijuana.
"Why that is escapes me, and it is near-impossible for Tory MPs or
other prohibitionists to logically explain why vast sums of money
continue to be spent outlawing pot when legalization would benefit
society in at least two areas."
Ican giveFoulds the short answer for the"why" of marijuana
prohibition - because police and politicians build their careers and
empires on it.
Because industries like alcohol and pharmaceuticals don't want the
competition. Because other interests like the drug treatment/testing
industry and the prison industries depend on it for their life's blood.
And because government uses marijuana prohibition as a means of
controlling minorities and the poor.
Once the public understands why we still have marijuana prohibition,
we will end this monstrously destructive fraud.
