SERIOUS ABOUT DRUGS
China has an innovative way of dealing with its drug problem. If you get
caught dealing drugs you may well be executed.
This past week, for the UN's anti-drug day, China offed 64 dealers. Another
188 were sentenced to life in prison.
China believes the harsh penalties are a deterrent.
Although it is not time to suggest that Canada follow this example, this
practice does beg an important question: Should the penalty actually fit
the evil of the crime?
The next time a dealer is planning on selling a little crack in the
schoolyard, he might want to think a little about that.
