PAIR CHARGED IN ATTEMPT TO SMUGGLE 9 TONS OF COCAINE
Two men face charges from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Miami that
they attempted to smuggle almost 9 tons of cocaine into the country,
prosecutors announced Friday.
The Coast Guard searched a fishing boat last month off the Pacific
coast of Costa Rica and uncovered 389 bales of the powder, prosecutors
said, calling it one of the largest narcotics seizures aboard a vessel.

redacted], a Mexican national, were on the boat at the time,
the Attorney's Office said.
