JURY MULLS CASE AGAINST REPUTED COCAINE LORD

MIAMI - Deliberations are set to resume Monday in the trial of a reputed
cocaine kingpin charged with killing witnesses, bribing jurors and ordering
payoffs to guarantee an acquittal in his drug trial.

The jury deliberated five hours Saturday without reaching a decision. The
panel did not ask the judge any questions and requested only to end its
daylong deliberations in the trial of Sal Magluta.

The jury sequestered by U.S. District Judge Patricia Seitz began
deliberations Wednesday after hearing 12 weeks of testimony from more than
135 witnesses.

Magluta, 47, could be sentenced to 20 years to life in prison if convicted
of ordering hits on three witnesses, a $500,000 jury bribe and distribution
of frozen drug profits from behind bars.

The charges stem from the high-profile trial of Magluta and his partner
Willy Falcon in 1996 that ended in an acquittal.
