TRIAL TO BEGIN MONDAY IN MARIJUANA BUST

MILWAUKEE -- Trial is set to begin Monday in federal court in Milwaukee for
two of three men indicted on drug charges after police found 1,300 pounds
of marijuana in their Green Bay home.

Gerardo Perez-Martinez, 21, Green Bay, and Hugo Campa-Gonzalez, 34,
California, face charges of drug trafficking.

Bernardo Perez, 20, also charged with possession of a firearm in
furtherance of drug trafficking, will have a separate trial Nov. 4.

The men were arrested June 7 after members of the Brown County Drug Task
Force found more than 1,300 pounds of marijuana in a Weise Street home. The
drugs have a street value of $2.2 million.

If convicted, the drug charge carries a mandatory five years in prison,
with a maximum sentence of 40 years. The weapons charge carries a five-year
penalty consecutive to the drug charges.

A grand jury indictment is similar to criminal charges at the circuit court
level.

. A Green Bay man accused of committing more than 65 burglaries statewide
last year is scheduled for a status hearing Monday in Door County.

Randolph Guenterberg, 42, also faces additional burglary charges in Adams,
Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Juneau, Kewaunee, Marinette, Rock and
Washington counties. Charges in Lafayette County were dropped.

Shortly after police publicized a statewide manhunt, Guenterberg turned
himself in to Juneau County authorities. He told police he started the
burglaries in 2001 after he was laid off from his job.

. Isaac Dettman of Green Bay is scheduled to enter a plea Friday in
Marinette County in connection with a friend's death from a club drug.

The death of Nicole Cambray on June 16, 2001, was one of the first
fatalities in the state caused by butanediol, which is analogous to the
sedative GHB, police say.

A forensic toxicologist said Cambray, 25, of Marinette, died of butanediol
and gammahydroxybutyrate intoxication.

Dettman told police he bought the drug butanediol over the Internet and
gave capfuls of the clear liquid to several friends outside a Marinette
tavern last June. Dettman called police after he awoke the next morning and
discovered Cambray was not breathing.

Dettman, 24, is charged with first-degree reckless homicide in Cambray's
death. He also faces five felony counts of delivering a controlled
substance, each punishable by up to 7 1/2 years in prison.

Butanediol metabolizes into GHB in the body, toxicologists say. At high
doses, it can result in sleep, coma or death. It is illegal to possess.
