RICHMOND BEATING VICTIM DEAD

Years of trouble at a Richmond house police say has been outfitted for
growing marijuana came to a climax Monday with the death of a man beaten on
the weekend at the No. 4 Road address.

Richmond RCMP said the victim was a 41-year-old Vancouver man. RCMP
Corporal Peter Thiessen said the house where he was beaten had been
outfitted as a marijuana grow operation and was raided twice in recent
years. Neighbours' complaints about activities at the house go back 10 years.

Thiessen said police suspect that as many as four men went to the home late
Sunday and had an argument with the victim, who was found outside a
neighbour's house.

According to B.C. Assessment Authority records, the home, at 8391 No. 4
Road, is owned by Crystal H. Zhang, of Burnaby, who could not be contacted.
