CUSTOMS EXPRESSES ITS GRIEF THAT CANINE WAS LEFT TO DIE IN A VEHICLE

LAREDO - Responding to community outcries over the death of a federal
drug-detector dog, the U.S. Customs Service issued a statement Tuesday
expressing its grief and saying appropriate steps have been taken to ensure
a similar event doesn't occur.

An investigation into the death is ongoing, Customs spokesman Rick Pauza said.

"If there is a finding that requires action, we will move accordingly,"
Pauza said, adding he couldn't discuss details until the investigation is
complete.
