MCALLEN LEADS IN COCAINE SEIZURES
BROWNSVILLE - The McAllen sector of the U.S. Border Patrol seized more
cocaine from October to July than any of the other 20 sectors around the
country, officials said.
About 55 percent of all seizures in the first 10 months of this fiscal year
were made by McAllen agents, officials said.
During that period, the Border Patrol seized 11,138 pounds of cocaine
nationwide valued at $352.7 million, while McAllen agents alone intercepted
6,133 pounds of cocaine at nine international cross points. The haul is
valued at $196 million.
