WOMAN CHARGED IN SHOOTING OF MAN DURING DRUG ARGUMENT

Investigators Say DNA And Other Evidence Led Them To The Woman Who They Say
Killed The Man In September

WIMAUMA -- Hillsborough sheriff's deputies on Wednesday arrested a woman
they say shot a 55-year-old man to death in September during an argument
over crack cocaine.

Investigators used DNA they found on cigarettes butts, along with other
evidence, to link Brenda Henning-Santos, 47, to the Sept. 22 murder of Guy
Vaughan in Wimauma.

Authorities said Henning-Santos shot Vaughan several times with a .38-
caliber handgun at his home at 2725 County Road 579.

She apparently fled in Vaughan's Ford Ranchero, which investigators later
recovered.

They found a palm print in the vehicle, in addition to the DNA on several
cigarettes.

Henning-Santos was later arrested on an outstanding Texas warrant, and
deputies said she then told another inmate she had shot Vaughan after an
argument over money for crack cocaine.

State records show that Henning-Santos had no prior criminal record in
Florida before her arrest as a fugitive.

Records from Texas show that she has prior convictions there for burglary,
forgery, prostitution and theft.

In recent years, Vaughan had lived in Brandon and in Louisiana and
Virginia. He had no Florida criminal record.

Henning-Santos faces charges of first-degree murder and grand theft auto.
She remained in the Orient Road Jail on Wednesday without bail.
