ROGERS HIGH STUDENTS PLAN ANTI-POT RALLY IN SEATTLE
About 20 John Rogers High School students plan a "Wake Up Against
Marijuana" rally Wednesday afternoon in downtown Seattle's Pioneer Square.
The school's Students Against Destructive Decisions, a national
organization, will set off alarm clocks to alert passers-by to their
message. Holly Milender, a Rogers' senior and SADD member, said the
students will ask parents to discourage drug use by their children.
Milender said marijuana seems to be the most common drug high school
students try. She said it threatens health and may tempt students to try
other illegal drugs.
Milender said the group wants to challenge parents who may be ambivalent
about drugs, or who continue to use them. She said other SADD chapters
around the country plan similar rallies later this year.
