DRUG FIGURE CLEARED IN 1993 SLAYING OF CARDINAL
Mexican drug lord has been cleared in the 1993 slaying of a Roman Catholic
cardinal, a federal judge said.
Judge Humberto Venancio Pineda upheld the ruling of a previous court, which
threw out charges that Benjamin Arellano Felix ordered the killing of
Cardinal Juan Jesus Posadas Ocampo due to lack of evidence.
Posadas Ocampo was killed in May 1993 at Guadalajara's airport.
Investigators concluded that a gang of drug traffickers confused his luxury
car with that of a rival they were trying to ambush.
