MAKE GOOD DECISIONS

My sympathies go out to the parents of Jason Ricciuti.

I am upset, however, at the parents' contention that the minor hockey
association should look at its zero-tolerance drug policy.

This is more about two parents rushing to the defence of their child. Their
son should have known drugs are not conducive to becoming a top-level
athlete. The hockey association had him sign a code of conduct to deter
this kind of behaviour.

When are parents going to stop looking for excuses for their child when
s/he makes a wrong choice?

It's about time young people learned that getting somewhere in life is
dependent on having good judgment. And that if they don't make sound
decisions, there will be consequences. I am truly sorry the consequences in
this case led to such a tragedy.
