DRUG-TESTER ACCUSED OF FAKING RESULTS FOR PROFIT

The 49-year-old owner of a Houston drug testing business has been caught
selling altered drug test results to those wishing to obtain a city wrecker
driver's license, police said today.

Police are concerned about the public safety hazard the scam could
represent, said Sgt. Doug Osterberg of the Houston Police Department's
Major Offenders Unit.

Michael Whitfield, of the 3400 block of Ashlock, is so far charged only
with possession of a controlled substance. Charges in connection with the
fake drug test results are forthcoming, Osterberg said.

Whitfield is owner of Quality Testing Systems, but Osterberg said the
company apparently has no facilities, just a post office box in Houston.
Osterberg said undercover officers approached Whitfield and told him they
needed negative drug test results to get a city wrecker license, but had
drugs in their systems. Whitfield sold the officers fake drug test results
for $100, Osterberg said.

Osterberg asked that anyone else who has hired employees with test results
from Quality Testing Systems call investigators at 713-308-3100.
