COWBOYS DE ZELLNER ARRESTED

FORSYTH, Ga. - Dallas Cowboys defensive end Peppi Zellner was released from
a Monroe County jail Friday on $5,000 bond after being charged with
possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

Zellner and his brother, Mannon Lee Zellner, were arrested Thursday by a
multi-country narcotics task force.

Magistrate Court clerk Diane Williams said Mannon Zellner remained in jail
with no bail set on the same charge.

"We know what happened and it's not what you're hearing," said Harold
Lewis, Zellner's agent. "We're very confident that within the next 24
hours, or no later than Monday morning, you will see that Peppi Zellner
will be cleared of any charges against him."

Zellner, 27, is an unrestricted free agent and the Cowboys had little
interest in re-signing him.

"My feeling is they're moving elsewhere or else they would've called by
now," Lewis said.

Zellner's size (6-5, 286 pounds), athleticism (he played basketball in
college) and mean streak made him a prototype end.

Dallas drafted him in the fourth round in 1999 from Fort Valley State in
central Georgia's Peach County. He played 13 games that season, mostly on
special teams but also as a fill-in on the line.

He started 15 games in 2001 and set career highs with 46 tackles and three
sacks. This past season, he had no sacks and only 31 tackles.

He has six sacks and 107 tackles in 43 games over four seasons.
