PROSECUTE, DON'T PERSECUTE
Dear editor,
The cannabis community is concerned with the proposed drugged-driving
legislation, in that it seeks to test for "amount of cannabis" rather
than test for impairment. This situation will inevitably lead to some
people who are impaired for other reasons (lack of sleep, prescription
drugs, etc.) to be allowed to continue to drive impaired, while others
who have some cannabis in their system but who are not impaired will
be unfairly punished. Cannabis impairment is a function of dose and
familiarity. It is not inherent with cannabis use.
