QUEBEC RANKS SECOND TO B.C. IN POT SMOKING
24 Per Cent Believe It Should Be Legal, Poll Suggests
Thirteen per cent of Quebecers have admitted in a survey to smoking
marijuana in the last year - the second highest in the country, after
British Columbia with 14 per cent.
And almost one-in-four Quebecers surveyed - 24 per cent - believe marijuana
should be legalized, revealed the poll by Liger Marketing.
That compares with 26 per cent of British Columbians polled who share that
view.
Across Canada, 14 per cent believe that marijuana consumption should remain
illegal under all circumstances - the same as in Quebec. The federal
government is reported to be considering a law aimed at decriminalizing
simple possession of marijuana. The poll, conducted for the Toronto Sun, was
carried out April 1-6. A total of 1,500 Canadians were polled.
