PUBLIC INVITED TO MARIJUANA MEET

The public is welcome to a Health Canada briefing next week with city
councillors on access to medical marijuana.

Council, sitting as committee of the whole, will discuss the issues with a
Health Canada representative Tuesday at 2 p.m. at city hall.

Under the committee of the whole format, the public is not permitted to
speak but is invited to hear the presentation.

"It is not a public hearing per se," Mayor Alan Lowe said. "Obviously
council has heard much of the debate around medial marijuana and how to
access medical marijuana."

Councillors are aware of the questions members of the public have, he said.
Council wants to learn where Health Canada may be going in the future with
this issue, he said.
